Liverpool Nike Kit Deal
It has been reported that current European Champions, Liverpool FC. Are in talks with Nike to sign a record breaking kit deal. That would see them eclipse the current Premier League record held by Manchester United for their $91 Million per year agreement with Adidas. The Liverpool Nike Kit deal when finalised will be the third most lucrative in the whole of football. Only surpassed by Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. Who earn $122 Million per year from Nike, and $133 million annually from Adidas respectively. With the Real Madrid Adidas deal potentially earning the Galacticos a massive $1.2 Billion in total. Liverpool currently have a $55 Million per year contract with New Balance which is due to complete at the end of the 2019-2020 season, opening the door for Nike to do a deal with Europe’s leading team.
Nike’s other Premier league exports
Nike already produce kits for three other Premier League clubs; Brighton and Hove Albion has been with the American manufacturer since 2014, whilst London duo Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur signed deals at the start of the 2017-18 season. Chelsea FC ended its deal with former manufacturer Adidas six years early to sign a whopping 15-year contract with Nike which is worth $73 million a year. While Tottenham take home half that amount from their agreement with Nike, earning approximately $37 million.
Nike’s biggest sporting endorsements
Nike are specialist in sporting endorsements and this proposed Liverpool Nike kit deal is just one among a stable of countless. Brazilian footballer Neymar Jnr. has aligned with Nike subsidiary Jordan. Northern Irish Golfer Rory McIlroy signed a 10-year, $250 million partnership with the brand in 2013. While basketball players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant all have lucrative signature shoe deals with Nike.
