The SS20 campaign is finally picking up momentum after they slowly starting drip feeding fans a number of teasers for their upcoming Spring/Summer collection which includes a collab with Nike and the Air Force 1.
The first wave of hype development from Supreme has been to tease fans with three images on their Instagram page of upcoming garms including a gold trucker jacket, a printed hoodie and bold red pants.
What we’re here for though is their collaboration with Nike. Supreme have taken the minimalist Air Force 1 and brought in their own two takes: one black, one white. The pair of low-cut Air Force 1s come equipped with Supreme’s iconic box logo on a template which is subdued to the nth degree for a Supreme design. And when compared against their apparel for the upcoming season, they are worlds apart.
Whilst some are calling the new looks lazy, Supreme have never been one to give in to fan demands and continue to tread their own path. What we’re left with is clean all-black and all-white colourways. The monochromatic looks are not far removed from the classic Air Force 1 look, which goes to show Supreme’s power of brand recognition riffing with another iconic brand on one of their most famous looks that has seen little change over the years.
The new look tells fans that ‘if it aint broke, don’t fix it’ – this is no Virgil Abloh drop. When it comes to their collection, they do what they want.
Most fan complaints have missed one vital aspect of the release. One special feature has been included. Fans who do choose to grab a pair of Supreme Nike Air Force 1 come April will receive an alternate pair of laces with some more ostentatious Supreme branding. The triple black colourways will receive black lacing with white Supreme logo and the all-white trainers will get a bolder red lace with white branding.
The new Supreme Nike Air Force 1 colourways are heavily rumoured for an April drop but make sure you check in with us here at Laced for more up to date online trainers release dates.
