A history of delays
When it was announced that Nike would be teaming up with Japanese street wear brand Sacai, the expansive range was gathering quite the intrigue from the trainer community. Unfortunately, for reasons that are still unclear the debuting Sacai x Nike LDV Waffle had its release delayed. Now, we are unsure why this happened; some speculate rather cynically that this was in an attempt to elevate the hype surrounding the release. Others cite much less tactical reasons for the delay. Regardless, we finally got an opportunity at buying the model in May 2019 and the reception it received put it in top contention for the ‘Sneaker of the Year’ accolade which was previously won by the Nike React Element 87 in 2018.
Trio of new Sacai x Nike LDV Waffle
Well Sacai and Nike are back and are attempting to build on the success they had in May with the debuting duo of colourways for the LDV Waffle. This time not with a duo but a trio of new colourways for the interesting cross breed of archived Nike silhouettes. Peculiarly, just as the debut was pushed back from March to May, the second capsule has also been delayed. This time being moved from a reported July release to a confirmed September 5th release. Once again reasons for this are unclear but regardless hype is already intense surrounding the release.
The trio includes two monochromatic variants. A grey and white, and a black and white. Plus an all the more colourful pink and green based model, more in keeping with the previously released red and blue and green and yellow models. This trio are all expected to retail at £130 but as you most likely already know, getting your hands on a pair of these is going to be incredibly difficult as these are going to be an exclusive and limited release, meaning a raffle is probably going to be the most likely way of getting your hands on these for retail price. If you miss out, expect the price of these on the secondary online trainers market to absolutely sky rocket.
