Reebok couldn’t believe their luck when they first convinced Connor McGregor – one of the MMA’s most influential and standout stars – to sign with them for a collection of training gear and footwear.

At the time, Connor McGregor was responsible for boosting the popularity of cage fighting around the world, through his insane ability inside the ring as much as his incendiary and erratic behaviour outside the fighting world that could get under the skin of fans and fighters alike.

As Reebok and the “Notorious” McGregor go into 2020, the Irishman has let his behaviour outside the octagon spoil an otherwise stellar career; first there was the violent bus incident with Khabib Nurmagomedov after a media event for UFC 223; then there was the punch thrown at an elderly gentleman in a bar in Ireland after the man refused a sip of his own brand whisky.

Now, after 15 months away from the spotlight, Connor McGregor steps into the octagon once again, this Saturday 18th Jan, for a headline bout against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246.

In time for the fight, Reebok and Connor have teamed up once again to reveal their new training gear and footwear: The Zig Kinetica.

Return of the Zig

The zigzag soleplate from reebok was considered a bit of a flop when it first landed back in 2010, but now, with some tinkering and some aesthetical changes it seems to be well and truly etched on to the sneaker map.

The new McGregor Zig Kinetica comes in a clean black colourway with a crimson/orange Zig tech soleplate for a look that slots in nicely with the performance driven silhouettes.

The fight lands this weekend, but the new colourway won’t be available until the 21st February and comes alongside a limited edition “Zigurine”; a Connor McGregor action figure in his famous pose.

Only 100 units will drop on release date so expect collectors to be descending on the release in order to get their hands on them. Check out Laced’s online trainers platform for more drops and release dates.
