No shoe has got sneaker fans as excited as the Nike Air Jordan 1 Dior collaboration has in a long, long time. This is the first time Dior, one of the world’s biggest fashion designers, has chosen to work side by side with American apparel creator Nike, on one of their leading trainer silhouettes.

The design has been worked on by Kim Jones, a Dior designer that has been a vocal lover of the AJ1 trainer. For his own rendition on the Michael Jordan classic, Kim has chosen to stick to a classic, clean design utilising luxe leather overlay panelling all over, building up layers of light grey over a cream base.

Under the surface, the design utilises extra padding around the ankle for a closer fit that should add extra comfort alongside some extra support.

Dior’s input is noticeable when we get to the famous Swoosh branding. This time, two world collide as the Nike swoosh is encasing Dior’s recognisable logo motif inside. A leather Swoosh is traded out for an embroidered design for a more elegant look.

The Dior branding has also taken over the usual ‘Air Jordan’ wingtip branding across the ankle collar, replacing the famous slogan with “Air Dior”.

The shoe is set to drop on July 1st and even with a price tag of £1,600.00 for the Low model and £1,800.00 for the High, more than five million fans have registered interest in the shoes. Unfortunately, a lot of fans of Air Jordans are going to be left unhappy as only 8,000 pairs are being made available to the public, with the other 5,000 being made available exclusively to Dior’s biggest clients.

The price of the Nike Air Jordan 1 x Dior is set to skyrocket at all online trainers resale sites, making these rare sneakers a serious investment opportunity for fans around the world.
