The 1300 is one of the most recognisable silhouettes from the New Balance collection and is now coming up on its 35th birthday. To celebrate, NB has teamed up with another American apparel giant, Levis.
Levis is pretty well known on the fashion scene, mainly for their lines of jeans. So it makes sense that when they team up with a trainer maker they place their own iconic clamp on the design by including denim.
They haven’t just used any old leftover denim either; the new 1300 look includes White Oak’s Cone Mill’s XX52 denim as the sneaker’s base. This is the same denim that is used in Levi’s iconic 501 jeans.
New Balance is racking up the collaborations in 2020 with designs from KIH and Joe Freshgoods already released and two more on the way from Casablanca and Aime Leon Dore.
This collaboration with Levis for the 1300 also helps celebrate the silo’s 35th anniversary. And what better way to celebrate 35 years than bringing in another fashion line in the form of Levis that goes back way farther than 35 years.
The NB x Levis Made in the USA 1300 combines the best of both New Balance and Levis with the base layer of White Oak XX52 denim dyed to a dark indigo colour. On top of the denim base upper sits beige suede layers that wrap around the foot, giving a subtle nod to the famous suede patch found on the back of every pair of Levi jeans.
Orange coloured, prime leather features adorn the shoe, including on the “N” logo, heel panelling and branded tabs. All of this sits atop a cream and indigo midsole with a tan outsole and cream laces to finish.
The New Balance x Levis Made in the USA 1300 drop on April 24 for £200. If you miss out on release date, head over to Laced’s online trainer’s platform for buy and sell options on the resale market.
