Its been quite the 2020 for Yeezy. Declaring he was running for president then pulling out of the race a few days later. Empty promises to fans around a new album which still hasn’t released. He did announce a massive deal with GAP worth millions but almost lost this after a Twitter outburst. Being a fan of Kanye West does mean you will suffer from heartache due to missed album drops or gigs cancelled. We all stick around though because of the genius that Ye possesses and when he does release something he rarely misses.

Despite all of the above, however, his sneaker releases remain the most consistent output from West year after year. 2020 seems to be no different.

Between the outbursts on social media, Kanye did manage to put the entire sneaker industry on notice when he teased many unreleased colourways of his Adidas x Yeezy silhouettes.

The images got us excited for everything that could be coming from the Yeezy brand this year. With the release of the Yeezy 350 v2 Israfil imminent, we decided to take a look back at the last eight months and pick our favourite Yeezy’s so far.

7. Adidas x Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Linen

The Adidas x Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Linen dropped back in April of this year. The sneaker featured a muted colourway which stayed true to the Yeezy signature palette, earthy tones for that minimalistic vibe.

The beige upper enhanced with baby blue highlights throughout the shoe. You will see the light blue colouring feature in the sock liner as well as the striking stripe we have become accustomed to with the 350 models. The rose pink outsole finishes off this summer-ready colourway.

6. Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN

The Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN borrows many similar design aspects to the 700 v1 & v2. However, the upper swaps out the usual elements, using compact materials such as nylon with the numbers 700 printed across the side.

Each colourway features reflective material, drawing inspiration from minivans as the nickname of the shoe suggests. This year has seen four colourways release. We have minimalistic bone and black versions, as well as two high vis styles dressed in yellow and orange.

5. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Zyon

The ‘Zyon’ was an instant fan favourite amongst sneakerheads and Yeezy enthusiasts when it dropped last month. The colourway is reminiscent of the ‘Static’ colourway we have seen previously. However this time the white and grey accents have been swapped out for a brown stripe and mocha hues.

The shoes upper features the primeknit that we have become accustomed to on 350 silhouettes, ensuring unbelievable comfort throughout. The coffee coloured palette featuring throughout is made even more attractive with the addition of a cream coloured outsole.

Adidas Yeezy 700 v3 Alvah

The evergrowing Yeezy line added another version of the highly coveted 700 model this year with the v3. Perhaps the most sophisticated design of any Yeezy thus far, the upper featuring webbing across either side of the shoe. Yeezy soles are generally incredibly textured, but with this version of the 700, Kanye has opted to keep the sole sleek and streamlined.

The colourway comes dressed in the always popular triple black rendition. Underneath the webbing, you will find grey stripes to add to the dimensions of this sneaker.

If you have always wanted a pair of Yeezy’s but felt they were maybe a little too bright and in your face for you, the ‘Alvah’ is the Yeezy for you.

3. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Cinder

Sticking to the triple black colourways, our next favourite Yeezy comes in the shape of the 350 v2 Cinder. Reminiscent of the hugely successful 350 v1 ‘Pirate Black’ and the v2 ‘bred’, it is no surprise that the ‘Cinder’ made this list.

You have the usual aesthetics that have become the norm for Yeezy 350s. The primeknit upper of course features whilst the strike down the side of the shoes is still present although in the same colour as the rest of the upper.

A gum sole finishes off the look of the ‘Cinder’ and is a great silhouette for anybody looking to add some understated flair to their minimalistic outfits.

2. Adidas Yeezy 380 Mist NR

After the massive success of the 380 ‘Alien’ release back in 2019, Ye brought the silhouette back at the beginning of the year dressed in a ‘Mist’ colourway. The shoe comes in a mix of olives, browns and tan across the upper, nicknamed the mouldy bread due to its appearance.

The 380 is one of Kanye’s more original designs, ditching the usual armoured sole for a sleeker design. The unique character of the 380 has sneakerheads split on whether it will reach the dizzying heights of other Yeezy models, but we think this shoe is a must-have for collectors.

1. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Yeshaya

We round off this list with a Yeezy 350 that was teased way back in 2019 in a completely different colourway to what was initially shown. Kanye swapped out a never before seen colour palette that included purple yellow, and black for a minimalistic mix of whites and greys. We can’t say we disagree with the change of heart when you look at the resulting sneaker released.

Reminiscent of one of the first-ever Adidas Yeezy’s, the turtle dove, the ‘Yeshaya’ features crosshatch of neutral colours throughout the primeknit upper. The outer sole is a translucent white, whilst the bottom of the shoe features a striking gum colour to emphasise the upper.

This sneaker will elevate any outfit you plan on rocking this summer, with sneakerheads around the globe climbing over each other to get a pair.

So there you have it, our definitive list of our favourite Yeezy’s so far in 2020. Knowing Kanye, though, we are in for a few more shock drops and insane colourways before the year is out.
