The Sneakers Design
If you feel like you have seen the ‘Court Purple’ AJ1 before, that’s because the striking sneaker draws clear inspiration from the OG Air Jordan 1 Metallic Pack. This pack consisted of multiple colourways that released way back in 1986. Not only that, but the sneaker has an eerily similar resemblance to the recent Neutral Grey Jordan 1 that released back in February. A shoe which was one of the first-ever AJ1’s to drop back in’85. This time around, though, the ‘Court Purple’ version is a women’s exclusive. This means our smaller sized sneakerheads can rock this iconic shoe, too.
The silhouette features a minimalist white leather upper crafted from premium materials. Pops of purple throughout further accentuate this super clean foundation. Additionally, you can find the iconic Swoosh branding across the shoe’s lateral and medial sides, whilst the Wings logo features on the sneaker’s collar. You will also find the Nike Air logo on the shoe’s tongue.
Underfoot, Nike Air technology runs the length of the white and purple sole unit. This legendary technology guarantees unbeatable comfort whether you are wearing the silhouette on the court or the street.
The History Of The Metallic Colourways
Metallic Packs have become somewhat of a favourite for Jordan Brand, as we saw a four-colourway collection release in 1986. Releasing in Green, Orange, Purple and Red, the Metallic Pack was one of the first collections to release not in one of Jordan’s team colours. Today, this pack is one of the rarest Air Jordans to get your hands on. All four colourways fetch massive figures in the resale marketplace.
Jordan Brand would also release an Air Jordan 4 capsule in 2018, which was instantly catapulted into grail status upon release. We would see the same four colourways release, honouring the original Air Jordan 1 ’86 release. Collectors of the brand instantly recognised the throwback colourways. Sneakerheads worldwide were thrilled at the chance of owning a Metallic Pack Jordan silhouette. OG detailing such as the Jumpman logo on the tongue and mesh panelling feature, setting the Air Jordan 4 Metallic Pack apart from other sneakers.

The release of the upcoming Court Purple Air Jordan 1 may be a sign of things to come from Jordan Brand. As fans and collectors of Jordan Brand silhouettes, we all hope this means we are about to see a re-release of some of the other primary colourways from the 1986 Metallic Pack. I, for one, will most definitely be looking to grab a pair.
