The Nike Adapt Auto Max has been around for just over a year now, having been released in mid-2020. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the many lockdowns people around the world have had to endure, these incredible sneakers didn’t get the fanfare they so clearly deserved! Taking direct inspiration from popular science fiction, the Nike Adapt Auto Max are bringing inventions from classic sci fi movies like Back To The Future with these auto-tightening, self-lacing futuristic sneakers.

This silhouette instantly gives a futuristic feel with the entire upper crafted from a single piece of material for a smooth and sleek aesthetic. Two embossed triangles sit either side of the elasticated lace bands blending perfectly with the background while a Nike swoosh sits in its classic side position in the same hue but with a gorgeous glossy finish.

The tech in this sneaker is enough to make any technology enthusiast excited! Inside the thick, chunky soles, alongside Nike’s iconic Air Max bubbles, two LED lights can be found. These buttons function to tighten and loosen the laces as required.

The awesome technological innovation behind the design of this sneaker doesn’t stop with some light up buttons though! The sneaker comes with a custom designed app that can be downloaded to control the finer details of your aesthetic. Armed with the app and once paired with your new sneakers, you can choose from a huge variety of different colours or colour combinations for the lights on your shoes. You can set these individually or ensure they’re synced up! You can likewise fine tune the exact tightness of the laces with the app, adjusting how much the buttons tighten around your foot.

These incredible technological marvels are available in a few different colourways. The Black Anthracite colourway pairs an all-black upper with electric blue outsole and midsole, while the Motherboard colourway features a classic grey and yellow combo and the Infared features red and white. The Black Fire Berry colourway is most unique – coming with splashes of baby pink with a dark upper and outsole, and a lighter grey midsole, for a more varied design and higher levels of contrast between the hues.
