More Yeezys!!
Sometimes I feel like it’s hard to keep up with Kanye, as soon as I’m done talking up one of his latest creations, as if by magic, another appears. The conveyor belt of product that Yeezy is churning out in 2019 has been incredibly impressive, and although it hasn’t always hit the mark, with so much dropping, you would be forgiven for glossing over the bad ones and focusing only on the considerable pool of talent that has been added to the Yeezy roster. Thankfully, misses like the Yeezy 700 Analog have been few and far between and rather than causing a stink have seemingly ghosted their way through the trainer world, and instead, the gems have been the ones to stick in the memory, with the likes of the Yeezy 700 Inertia and the triple threat of Yeezy Boost 350 already emerging as fan favourites in 2019. Kanye West has never been one to rest on his laurels, however, and to go along with the upcoming releases I spoke about here, yet more rumours have surfaced, so sit up straight, pay attention, because these are coming thick and fast!
Yeezy Boost 700 v2 Tephra
Whispers began to circulate the trainer world around March time when the Yeezy 700 Inertia dropped of a new colourway for the Yeezy Boost 700 v2 silhouette, which at the time was given a working title of the Yeezy Boost 700 v2 Cement. Well, since then the Yeezy Mafia team and a whole host of other news outlets have ditched the ‘Cement’ name and instead suggested that the newest Yeezy Boost 700 v2 colour will be called ‘Tephra’ and is projected for a June 15 release (so not far away at all). The imagery released alongside this news suggest this product will feature in a grey mesh upper accented by dark grey and beige suede overlays and if I’m honest, I’m not overly enamoured with the prospect of that. Additional decorative details come in the form of dynamic hits of reflective 3M material which has now seemingly become a Yeezy standard for the majority of its new products in one way or another. For me, this proposed ‘Tephra’ colourway isn’t going to move the needle for Yeezy, the design looks like a merger of the Yeezy Boost 700 v2 Geode and the Yeezy Boost 700 Analog, and didn’t anyone ever tell Kanye West two wrongs don’t make a right? Just like the misses of the past however, they almost go unnoticed in the grand scheme of things, as the Yeezy brand is seemingly judged for its successes rather than its failures and I’m not too bothered about that.
Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Antlia
I recently waxed lyrical about the inbound Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Black and slightly less lyrical about the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Glow which are both dropping in the short term with the Glow dropping at the end of May and the Black at the beginning of June. It turns out that the ink had barely dried on my piece surrounding these two upcoming pairs beforeKanye West was at it again, with more additions to the Yeezy family emerging and seemingly continuing the brands’ full-blown assault on 2019. The first pair, the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Antlia, arrives as a sort of a cross between the highly anticipated Glow and the already well-established Butter colourways, albeit slightly more understated. Naturally, the Antlia appears in the most modern iteration of the 350 silhouettes with the SPLY-350 banner a thing of the past, instead making way for the semi-translucent stripe which has quickly become a staple since its debut on the Static in December 2018. Yeezy Mafia has stated that the Antlia will be a “special release” so expect this shoe to be extremely limited and available for a short time online.
Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Synth
For me, the Antlia looks like a pretty standard lick of paint for the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 silhouette and doesn’t offer much in the way of innovation, but around the same time the Antlia popped up all over the web, its much more exciting sibling also popped up. The Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Synth is one of those rumours that on first look immediately made me shout “FAKE”, but on further inspection, it turns out the Synth is very much a possibility, and it could be something very different for the brand. The 350 silhouette has always been minimalist, consisting of only a few elements but executed to near perfection. In recent times we have seen the SPLY-350 banner of the shapes first iterations be replaced with the now standard issue semi-translucent stripe, but what Synth design is set to do is something we have never seen before. Appearing in a monochromatic pale nude colourway, the Synth has done away with the heel pull tab which marks the first time this new iteration of the silhouette has done this. Previously we have seen heel tab-less designs like the Beluga v2, but never have we been blessed with a design that has the new semi-translucent stripe without the Yeezy heel pull tab, a thrilling development, I know!
Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Lundmark
It looks like the heel tab-less look could become the in thing once again, as the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Lundmark, another one of the rumoured products on the horizon also drops the feature. Likened to a darkened take on the Static colourway, the upper is done up in a whitish grey Primeknit marked with beige piping and a window created by the semi-translucent mesh application on the lateral side which was actually debuted on the Static, which exists as the Lundmarks closest relative. Elevating the shoe is a colour matched midsole shell that wraps a full-length BOOST sole system to complete the look, but beyond the visuals little is known about the release date of this pair but usually, we can take the word of Yeezy Mafia as gospel, and so we expect to see this pair “soon.”
Make sure you keep it Laced for the ever-growing list of upcoming Yeezy products and a whole host of other online trainer related content.
