Blondey McCoy teams up with Adidas
Young, enigmatic, and annoyingly successful, Londoner Blondey McCoy – self described as a “skateboarder with a clothing label”, also labelled an artist, and cultural influencer by others – has teamed up with Adidas. The partnership have been working on a specially designed pair of Adidas Superstars which look set to drop sometime in the second half of 2019. Luckily for us the Blondey McCoy Adidas Superstar has been granted some official images to promote the upcoming release, but we are still waiting with baited breath for concrete information on dates and prices.
What does the Blondey McCoy Adidas Superstar look like?
McCoy’s Superstar boasts a see-through upper made from polyurethane, with white leather trim existing around the eyestays and tongue. While the silhouette’s signature shell toe design remains, done up in brown, matching the sole unit accordingly. Three Stripe branding also remains appearing in black along the side of each shoe. While additional logo hits are featured on the tongue, heel, and insole. “Blondey” appears in gold on the side to sign off a truly unique pair of Superstars.
Translucent designs trending in a big way?
The translucent aesthetic of the shoe is one that will certainly turn heads, but isn’t as surprising as it would have been a few years ago. Translucent uppers have became a foundation of the Nike React Element 87 range which was highly regarded as shoe of the year in 2018. While more recently Nike have begun to deploy translucent elements to other shoes in their online trainers catalogue. Including the newly released Nike Air Max 270 React. The main selling point of this new trend is one of customisation. The ability to alter an aesthetic with a simple change of socks is one that has opened peoples eyes to the more creative side of fashion. Translucent uppers allow wearers to reinvent a shoes appearance again and again. Something that puts these Adidas Superstars very much on trend in 2019.
