When is the new Air Jordan 4 Cool Grey dropping?

In late 2018 is was unveiled by the Jordan brand their plans to bring back the classic Cool Grey colourway for the Air Jordan 4 silhouette. A design which has taken a near 15 year hiatus, last being released in mid 2004. According to Nike the resurgence for the model will begin August 1st at 7am via Nike.com retailing at an estimated £150, which will all tie in nicely with the 30th-anniversary celebrations for the Air Jordan 4.

What does the Cool Grey look like?

The shoe dons a subtle grey upper made of premium suede panels. Contrasted against a crisp white midsole and black outsole. All the classic design elements to the Air Jordan 4 are of course preserved. Including its tongue tag, netting at the sidewalls, plastic lace cage and heel patch that comes in a tonal shade. Rendering the popular footwear piece with a mature outlook. This all sits atop a duo-toned sole, paletted in black and white. A transparent Air Unit bubble rounds up this classic aesthetic.

The History of the Air Jordan 4

The Air Jordan 4 dates back as far as 1989. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the early colourways for the shoe mimicked those attributed to the previously released Air Jordan 3. Initially retailing at $100 at the time making it the most expensive court shoe on the market. Even being immortalized in the cult classic Spike Lee film ‘Do the right thing’.

During the 1988-89 season in which Michael wore the Air Jordan 4. He achieved his overall best statistical season with averages of 32.5 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists. 10 years later in 1999 an initital retro run for a lot of the OG colourways. The Air Jordan 4 Cool Grey wouldn’t enter the fray until the second wave of Air Jordan 4s in late 2004.
