The Air Jordan 13 silhouette is just over 12 months away from the 25th anniversary of its November 1997 release. In the run up to this momentous milestone, Nike have been releasing new and exciting colourways for this iconic silhouette! Now sneakerhead accounts are reporting the expected arrival of a reimagined OG colourway for the Air Jordan 13, ready to drop next summer.
The brand-new colourway will be an Air Jordan mid re-release of the OG 13 Low Navy / Metallic Silver – Black – Carolina Blue colourway that hit shelves in 97. This was the first Air Jordan 13 colourway to feature the Jumpman logo in place of the traditional holographic bubble. The upcoming release also displays colour blocking strikingly similar to 2017’s 13 Retro Low “Brave Blue” colourway!
This new take on the OG colourway delivers a sleek and crisp revamping which stays true to the original but have brought back the classic holographic bubble! The pure white midsoles with black outlining throwback to the originals perfectly, while the Carolina blue upper features a more reflective mesh material for a slightly irredescent feel in the light, especially when compared with the OG’s comparatively dull blue mesh. The textured effect the mesh provides, with the classic dimples found on all Air Jordan 13s, gives this silhouette almost all of its detail, with the rest of the sneaker dedicated to block black and white sections highlighting the contrast.
The black tongues proudly display the MJ Jumpman logo in a metallic blue, again utilising a much more reflective material than the OG model. The mid and outsoles of these sneakers are designed in the 13’s traditional wavy style, one which may have helped inspire the classic Yeezy soles which would storm the market decades later!
Once again Nike have delivered an incredible revamp of an iconic OG pair of Air Jordans and we can’t wait until these hit shelves! We’re sure there will be many more exciting announcements as we approach the 13’s 25th birthday next year. Stay tuned for more sneaker news in the meantime!
