Back in 2009, Kanye West signed his first Yeezy deal with Nike. This partnership lasted a mere 4 years, however, while their time was cut short, they produced some of the coolest sneaker designs of all time. Some of these sneakers now resell for at least an average of £3000! This was the beginning of something historic for Yeezy.
2015
In 2015, Ye signed a deal with Adidas, making fans question what the controversial move was for. Little did anyone know the absolute cultural phenomenon this line was about to become…
The first design to be released by Adidas x Yeezy was the Yeezy Boost 750s. These are still some of the most expensive sneakers to buy today. Other notable designs are the Yeezy Boost 350 and the Yeezy Boost 950. Those three designs have paved the way for the future standards of sneakers from luxury to performance, and their value, Yeezy were like no other sneakers.
In 2019, we all heard the news that the Yeezy Boost 350, arguably their best-selling design to date, were expanding their colourways to four options. These are the 4 colourways for the Yeezy Boost:
- Pirate Black
- Turtle Dove
- Moon Rock
- Oxford Tan
Fast forward to 2024, and with several new designs and colourways later, it was formally announced that from 2022, Adidas will be terminating their contract with Yeezy due to controversial and anti-semetic statements that the rapper had posted online.
The offensive social media posts had resulted in public outrage therefore leaving no option but for Adidas to cut ties with Kanye. But what happened to the remaining stock?
In February 2023, both Yeezy and Adidas reached a deal to sell the remaining Yeezy inventory until there are no more products left. After that, they will not be restocking Yeezy apparel or sneakers.
As well as selling the inventory, the money has gone to several organisations and charities that felt hurt by West’s social media statements.
Now in 2024, we have seen some gradual drops from the existing Yeezy x Adidas collab such as the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 and the Yeezy Slides which were released around the time of Yeezy Day 2024.
