The last time sneaker fans were treated to the Air Jordan IV “Black Cat” was all the way back in 2006. Since then, fan’s have waited patiently for it to make a comeback, holding on tightly to their OG pair and using it sparingly in their rotation.
Finally, fourteen years later, here in 2020, fans have once again been treated to a brand-new Air Jordan IV “Black Cat” colourway with a re-release of one of the most classic, all-black trainers to ever grace the shelves at Nike HQ and the feet of Michael Jordan himself.
Every type of collector and fan have been calling out for a remake of this classic. From the OG retro lovers to the new age fans who have plenty of time for the classics. Regardless of your style, little beats a clean, all-black colourway amongst trainer enthusiasts.
Staying true to the original is important in giving the fans what they want for a re-release. But obviously there have been a few parts that have been tinkered with to make use of better materials and trainer tech to increase comfort and durability.
The New Look
Nike have stayed true to the original Black and Light Graphite colour scheme across its nubuck construction. Subtle hints of grey are dispersed throughout the Jumpman Flight tongue tags and there are some neat finishing flourishes on the tonal netting side panels.
The Jumpman branding across the heel is blacked out and the black rubber sole is finished with a miniature white Jumpman logo on the outsole. The blacked-out midsole is infused with Air technology from Nike to add extra comfort.
The new Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat” drops on the 22 January, so check out our online trainers’ platform here at Laced for any resale options or to find out more about Nike releases in 2020.
