What we know about this release
Using the Air Jordan 1 Low as it’s backbone, and enlisting the efforts of both Nike SB and Pro Skater Eric Koston the Air Jordan 1 Low UNC is unquestionably the most hyped variation on the silhouette for quite some time. A silhouette that has recently been made popular by style icons Travis Scott, Virgil Abloh and of course Eric Koston. Who was heavily involved in the creative process for this iteration. This cross over model drops August 12th, retailing at £89.
What does the Air Jordan 1 Low UNC look like?
Arriving in the iconic ‘UNC’ colourway which has previously been adopted on a number of other successful Jordan models. Inspired by the University of North Carolina for which Michael Jordan famously featured. The pale blue and white panelled upper stands as the centre piece aesthetically which is only complimented by the ultra premium leather it is crafted from. Striking Swooshes hit the lateral and medial side panels while “Nike SB” branding is printed across the tongue and insole. Emphasising that this is one extremely rare Nike SB x Jumpman collaboration. A winged basketball logo is embossed around the heel, and to round it all off, an Air infused midsole sits down below. Making these perfect for both the court and the half pipe.
The shoes are reportedly inspired in no small part by a pair of kicks Eric Koston desperately wanted his Mum to buy him for a sale price of $24.99, but unfortunately was denied. This experience has clearly stuck with Koston as that price, along with Koston’s signature, are included inside the tongue labels. Not to mention this pair might not be as cheap as the ones from his youth, but for a collaboration of this magnitude are available at a very reasonable, by todays standards anyway, retail price on online trainers markets.
